Top 10 Tuesday: ALL TIME Favorite Fantasy Books

sparkling-letters-book-blog-top-10-tuesday-ten-all-time-favorite-fantasy-books

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

It’s been a while since the last time I did a TTT post! The last couple topics are just too difficult for me and I didn’t feel like doing them at all </3 but this week topic got me back in the game! 😀 Well to be fair, asking a bookworm to pick ALL TIME FAVORITES is like asking a mom to pick a favorite child 😛 It’s a cruel thing to do, but it is a pretty fun topic! I enjoy a lot of genres but fantasy is still and will always be my favorite. So today, I’ll list down my some of my all time favorite fantasy books! ♥

I’m aware that this would be the million-dollar topic this week and you’ll see pretty much the same books everywhere, but whatever 😛

HP & TWATD.jpg

Harry Potter by JK Rowling

This must be obvious but how could we talk about all time favorite fantasy books without mentioning Harry Potter? It’s my ultimate favorite! I think, HP might be the very fist fantasy book I’ve ever read (and watched). All those magic and wizarding school? I’ll never get over it! Although… I’m saddened by the fact that I do not own any physical copies of Harry Potter 😦 I first read it when I was in elementary school by borrowing the books from my friends and by the time I started collecting books, I felt like it was already too late to start buying them all. At least I own all the ebooks 😛

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I know, I know, you must be tired of seeing this book on my list, but can you blame me?!! It’s SO GOOD and very magical! It HAD TO make the list, considering this week’s theme 😛 If you haven’t read it, please do! And then proceed to its sequel The Rose and the Dagger they’re both so good ♥

Sarah J Maas 2.jpg

All of Sarah J. Maas‘ books! ♥

Throne of Glass

It’s no secret anymore that I have a love/hate relationship with this series. Sometimes I love it, hate it, cry over it, and be mad at it because it’s just so complicated! But fantasy speaking, it’s only fair for this series to make the list. EVERYTHING is so magical! The characters are fae and humans with magic and the world building is just so extravagant. I have yet to read Empire of Storms but I have hopes despite all the negative reviews 😛

A Court of Thorns and Roses

While I have a love/hate relationship with ToG, I’m ALL for this trilogy! ACOTAR is by far the best fairy tale retelling I have ever read. It has the original and vital elements of the classic Beauty and the Beast BUT it was so much more than that! Both the characters and the plot are so strong and this is one of those series that get better each book. I can’t wait for the final book ♥♥♥

Victoria Schwab 2.jpg

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

A Darker Shade of Magic was BRILLIANT. I adore this book SO BADLY! ♥ It’s so good and original and probably my current favorite fantasy book these days. The world building is so epic and vivid and the characters are super amazing. Also, plot twists absolutely everywhere! Check out my review here.

The Archived by Victoria Schwab

I was hooked by the synopsis of this book because library for the dead? BRING IT! The idea was so original, the execution successful, and the world building flawless. This book was also another proof of Victoria Schwab’s cleverness and it sealed my love for her ♥ Check out my review here.

You might also enjoy This Savage Song and though I haven’t read Vicious, I’m sure it’s equally amazing! ♥

Heroes of Olympus.jpg

Absolutely ALL of Rick Riordan‘s books! I’m totally smitten 😛

The pictures only show HoO books because my cousins borrowed all my copies of PJO and I don’t have physical copy of The Hidden Oracle </3

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

I watched the movie before I read the book and I was so in love with this series! You could say, it was love at first read 😛 I never gave much thought about greek myth before, but PJO instantly stole my heart! ♥ I’ve been obsessed with greek myth ever since! Not to mention that the books were so hilariously awesome!

Heroes of Olympus

Imagine my delight on discovering this series after saying goodbye to PJO! I WAS STOKED! ♥ More Percy?! Count me in! It was much more complex with all the Roman myth but equally great. Genius plot. I love it and it has the best character development I’ve ever read so far. Not to mention some new characters to fangirl over… hehe.

The Trials of Apollo

Do you think after so many books about greek myth spin-off I’d be tired of it? NOT A CHANCE. I was excited for this book and it didn’t disappoint at all! This book was hands down the most hilarious of all. It’s so refreshing to see the story from a god point of view, especially when he’s Apollo. I mean, hilarious at its best! 😛 I’m so excited for The Dark Prophecy.

I supposed if you enjoyed all these books, you’d also enjoy Kane Chronicles & Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard. I haven’t read Magnus Chase but I enjoyed Kane Chronicles quite a lot! I still prefer greek myth though 😛

Six of Crows & ATATN.jpg

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

This book is full-on BRILLIANT! I’ve always been obsessed with group quest and this book is about a group of criminals trying to perform an impossible heist. It couldn’t get any better! 😛 It was gripping from the very beginning, fast paced, super intense, and the characters are so precious. I can’t wait for Crooked Kingdom! Check out my review here.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

This book was awesome! ♥ I really enjoyed this and was genuinely surprised to hear that a lot of people didn’t love this! I’ve seen a lot of complaints regarding technical aspects so objectively speaking, this book probably wasn’t that great. BUT, the only thing that matters is that I enjoyed it A LOT and I’m currently reading A Torch Against the Night (almost done) and it’s so emotional & full of twists! Stay tuned for my full review in the next couple of days 😀

  1. Yesss I LOVE FANTASY!! *flails so much* And I absolutely adore your list. Like especially Six of Crows (BE STILL MY FANGIRLING HEART OMG) and all the Percy Jackson books and A Darker Shade of Magic!!😍 VE Schwab can do no wrong, basically. And Rick Riordan could write 9389 million books about Percy Jackson and I’d still be excited.😂

  4. Awesome list! 🙂 I have ADSOM and This Savage Song in my possession and still haven’t read them. I ordered Six of Crows and it’s supposed to be on its way to my house. I started ToG a while ago but some ARCs got in the way. I hear they’re making the series into a TV show.

    • Thank you! 😀 Ahhh you have to read everything by VE Schwab she’s the best! I hope SoC arrives soon and safely so you could read it. It’s my favorite ❤ Yes they are, I don't know whether to be glad or sad thought, tv/movie adaptation often ruins my imagination haha 😛

  5. I absolutely love fantasy books!
I’m a Sarah J Maas virgin! I own all of the ToG series and both books in the ACOTAR series but I just haven’t gotten round to reading them yet! 🙃 I know I definitely need to read them soon though!

Brilliant blog post! And I agree, what would a fantasy post be without a bit of Harry Potter ⚡️
