Book Recommendations for the Notorious Shipper Out There! <3

I would like to say that I want to read books that don’t focus on romance, but that would be a lie. The truth is, I’ve always been a huge shipper 😛 You might remember that my first few years of reading journey were filled with tons and tons of manga. My first two mangas were Detective Conan and Doraemon and I shipped Ran and Shinichi so badly ♥ and then I watched and read Naruto and I shipped Sasuke and Sakura. I have to admit, that ship took a lot of patience (and frustration) on my part until they finally got together.

But still, I got to ship #sorrynotsorry

I planned to do a list of why I love romance in books but sadly, I don’t have enough reasons to make an adequate list. I only have one reason. It’s fun, adorable, and it adds some delicious additions to the story 😍

I know some people might disagree and felt like romance sometimes steals the spotlight, or even worse but also true, romanticizes things that shouldn’t be romanticized. While I completely acknowledge the fact that romance should not be the sole focus of the story, I still really enjoy it. So here goes a bunch of contemporary book recommendations that I have sorted based on my favorite romance tropes! ♥

Buckle up you hopeless romantics, get ready to swoon 😛

Fake Relationship

I mentioned this a couple times before but fake relationship is indeed my favorite trope of ever! It’s so adorable to see two people fake a relationship and along the way they realize that they’re not even faking it anymore. IT’S REAL! ♥♥♥ I enjoy arranged and fake marriage as well 😛

THE FILL IN BOYFRIEND. It’s obvious from the title alone that this book is about a fill-in boyfriend. Gia Montgomery, our protagonist, asked Hayden to pretend to be her prom date because her (now ex) boyfriend broke up with her in the parking lot and none of her friends have met him before. I admit, it wasn’t as good as Kasie West’s other books, but still super adorable! ♥

TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE. Another fake relationship done to save face. Buuuut this book is so much more than that! It’s about sisterhood and family and there’s a lot of cultural aspect as well. Highly recommended. Click here for my review.

THE WAY TO GAME THE WALK OF SHAME. There was a period when this used to be my go to re-read book for like… a month! It was so cute and adorable and I absolutely loved it 

THE DEAL. It’s more of a fake date than fake relationship and even that was not the focus of the story. But still… got to put it on the list 😛 The Deal is the book that started my fondness of NA romance, so I’d really recommend it if you’re at least a bit into NA ♥

Best Friend Romance

I’m still surprised to see the small number of this trope making appearances in YA contemporary! I mean, falling in love with someone you’ve known and care for makes a lot more sense than falling in love with some strange person you just met, doesn’t it? I definitely need to see more best friend romance in books.

A WEEK OF MONDAYS. I admit, this was a bit boring because it was so repetitive. There’s also a bit of a love triangle buuuut I love the best friend love interest so much ♥ and all in all I surprisingly enjoyed this book more than I thought I would 😛

THE SERPENT KING. I can not recommend this book enough!! It’s SO GOOD yet so underrated </3 and people, if you haven’t read it yet please do, there’s a blogger, a musician, a book nerd, fabulous friendship, best friend romance, and FEELS. SO. MUCH. FEELS  Click here for my review.

Mysterious Love Interests

Another trope that I’ve come to love recently! Most of the times it’s not even that mysterious but it’s still fun to keep guessing and wondering while watching our characters fall in love through texts or letters, or emails 😛

TELL ME THREE THINGS. This book was suuuch a huge surprise and I loved it so much  It was surprisingly fluffy and downright adorable, plus it’s not that predictable. This book made me think and then doubt my own thoughts 

SIMON VS THE HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA. Okayy this book is super duper cute and Simon is like the BEST character of ever! There’s also some amazing friendship and family relationship and of course mysterious guy  also this wasn’t so predictable (though I had my suspicion and it turned out to be right). BONUS : Oreo appreciation time.

P.S. I LIKE YOU. Unlike the other two, this one is super predictable! I literally could tell who the mysterious guy was since the first chapter  but no need to worry, just because it’s predictable doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable, because it IS! It’s everything Kasie West ever is, adorable and sweet. Also there’s some amazing family dynamic ♥

That was all for now! 😀 I actually still have a few tropes I want to make recommendations for such as M/M and F/F romance, star crossed lovers, and bad boys // good girls but I feel like I haven’t read enough books to draw recommendations from so I’m trying to read more now and there might be part two sometime in the future 😛
