The first half of 2016 is ending soon, which means… there are more books to be released soon!! Who’s excited?! 😀
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
This week theme is Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases For The Second Half Of The Year. I am wayyy beyond excited for this topic since there are SO MANY great books to be released! I’m utterly convinced that 2016 is my best book year so far ♥♦ Here we go!
Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
This is my #1 most anticipated release of all time! ♦ After nominating Illuminae as the COOLEST book of all time, I can’t wait to see what happens next. Though I was completely won over by Kady and Ezra, the fact that Gemina has different main characters didn’t even let me down. I am sure that it’s still gonna be AWESOME especially since Jay Kristoff said that they had a couple of new document styles, one of which is going to “BLOW YOUR GODDAMN MINDS”. Ohhh gimme gimme quick!!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by JK Rowling
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.
Please say no more, I looked at J.K. Rowling‘s name besides the word “Harry Potter” and I AM SOLD! I don’t need to read the blurb and I don’t care that it’s only a script I’ll read whatever it is J.K. Rowling writes when it comes to Harry Potter series ♥♥♥
You know I love fairy tale retelling, don’t you? 😉 which is why I AM SO EXCITED for this!! Marissa Meyer did an insanely great job with The Lunar Chronicles and some reviews of the ARCs said that it is even better than that. So naturally, I have a really high expectations for this. Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland? Ugh yes please! 🙂
Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas
The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those don’t.
I’m still reading Queen of Shadows but I’m 100% sure that as soon as I finish it, I’m going to really crave for Empire of Storms. Moreover, I have an insanely HUGE faith in Sarah J Maas’ story telling ability after reading A Court of Mist and Fury. Her writing ONLY gets better and better. Will you just come out already so I don’t have to wait for long you awesome little thing?!!
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Honestly speaking, I don’t even remember what it is about but WHO CARES?! Laini Taylor stole my heart with Daughters of Smoke and Bone. Her beautiful writings and amazing plot gain her a place as one of my auto read author. So whatever it is about, bring it!
…..Um actually, give me a minute to check with goodreads.
the aftermath of a war between gods and men
a mysterious city stripped of its name
a mythic hero with blood on his hands
a young librarian with a singular dream
a girl every bit as perilous as she is imperiled
alchemy and blood candy, nightmares and godspawn, moths and monsters, friendship and treachery, love and carnage.
Okay now seriously, BRING IT!
A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
I’ve heard some negative reviews about this book from the people who received ARCs but I’m really giving this book the benefit of the doubt. I mean, come to think of it, I also heard a lot of negative reviews about An Ember in the Ashes and I ended up loving it so I hope you don’t let me down, sister *fingers crossed*
I’m not a fan of the series. Well specifically, I’m not a fan of Adeline Amoterou but I’m definitely curious about what’s going to happen next!
Bestselling author Marie Lu concludes Adelina’s story with this haunting and hypnotizing final installment to the Young Elites series.
I seriously hope it’s true. I hope Marie Lu ends it perfectly and Violetta gets more spotlight in the story ♣
Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill
She must go on a dangerous quest in a world of warring kingdoms, mad kings, and dark magic to find the real killer.
I think you’d (probably) be awesome ♥
After the last book clearly left me hanging with a bunch of unanswered questions, I seriously can’t wait for this book!! (Hopefully) it’s gonna be heartbreaking yet very touching at the same time.
Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It’s like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he’s going to win back his princess, he’ll need to prove himself Royally worthy.
See?!! I know Reed is in love with Ella! GIMME REED ROYAL NOW!!!
I kind of dislike the cover but whatever it is Kasie West writes, I’m definitely gonna read it. The blurb seems cheesy, but still interesting so no worries and I hope it’s as charming as her previous books.

On the contrary, I’m not a fan of vague blurbs because I’ve been let down several times by books which blurbs are vague and seem interesting but turn out disappointing 😦 but this is Laini Taylor so I’m sure whatever it is gonna be awesome! 😀

Heartless & Empire of Storms were both on my list this week too. I am extremely excited for the Harry Potter script but I didn’t include it on my list because I am pretty obvious with my HP love and I figured regular readers of my blog would know me well enough to know how excited about The Cursed Child I am.

So much intrigue and confusion in that Strange the Dreamer blurb. But so wonderful that it doesn’t feel like there’s a wasted word in that tiny 7 line bit!
Cheers,

Noooo. I’ve only heard good things about A Torch Against the Night – I must have been living under a rock, or something. But like you, I also really enjoyed An Ember. Hope it lives up to the hype! 🙂

Soooo many good ones on your list and I’m so ashamed to say I have some that I haven’t read the first (or second etc) book of. I’m really excited for Torch, even though I only own Ember but haven’t read it yet. My friend made me excited about The Midnight Star so now I’m buying the first books. And I’ve seen Broken Prince (and it’s prequel) around and I am really curious about it. 🙂
